The Janainas proudly participated in this year's conference organized by DaMigra , the umbrella organization for migrant women's organizations.
The theme of this year's conference was empowerment and power sharing. Alongside celebrating DaMigra’s 10th anniversary and their impactful political work, we attended inspiring talks and discussions by incredible women, including Prof. Dr. Nikita Dhawan, who offered deep insights into privilege and transnational structures.
Empowerment cannot exist without the sharing of power. All of us fighting against patriarchy understand that power, when shared, is multiplied. We are not just one, but many women united by the power to choose, decide, and influence change.
Empowerment means, for example, having control over your own life. Sharing power means enabling others to reclaim control over theirs—whether through the exchange of information and knowledge or through mutual support and solidarity. These principles are at the core of what we do in our projects.
There can be no meaningful social, feminist, or intersectional impact work without power sharing.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to DaMigra for organizing such a powerful event, and to our friends from IMBRADIVA, Sara, and Nilza, and from Abá Frankfurt, Adriana, and Ana, for their knowledge, dedication, and the joy of shared community.
I want to close with a powerful statement from Lourdes Martinez, a DaMigra board member:
“We have nothing left to lose but our chains!”
And so, we will carry on.
